Carefree Romanticism with the Pluma Collection

Usher in the wonder of nature

If you’re looking to create an interiors scheme that features intricate prints, weaves and embroideries along with picking out traditional details which have been reimagined for the 21st century then the Pluma Collection from Romo really is a collection worth considering.

As Romo themselves put it; “Pluma narrates a blissful fairy tale that ushers in the wonder of nature and all it has to offer. A nod to the eclecticism of stately homes swathed in decadent designs from across the globe, this decorative collection takes inspiration from cultural influences and artistic direction from late 19th century documents. A mix of swirling florals and graceful birds transfix the eye and envelop the senses in a magical surrounding. Lose yourself in the myriad of colours and exquisite design details that bring this collection to life.”

Here at Soft Options Interiors, we feel this range of beautiful designs across fabrics and wallcoverings truly evokes a feeling of bygone times, and does so in a way that feels fresh and fun. Take ‘Pluma Olivine’ for instance used above in coordinating wallpaper and fabric. The design features birds perching on delicate branches, which creates an uplifting spectacle that transports you to a tropical aviary of colour and texture. If your room and lighting will take a darker hued decadent colour palette then the same fabric and wallpaper in the ‘Velvet’ colourway as shown below creates a striking, grand scheme that feels utterly sophisticated and grand.

A fresh floral is also to be found in the Pluma collection with the ‘Odelia’ Wallcovering and Fabric as shown below in French Blue. Discovered by Romo in their design archives, these pictorial peonies were inspired by a 20th century print. Re-drawn and hand-painted, Odelia is a captivating display of bountiful blooms, printed on both matt and pearlescent grounds.

A fabric which really takes you back to another time is found in ‘Chiya’ in the Lotus colourway. Exotic florals and tropical palm fronds depict a jubilant scene of flora and fauna, printed on a beautifully fluid linen blend ground. Inspired by a late 19th century document, this decorative design has been recreated to include a subtle herringbone detail and deliberately aged appearance, perfectly demonstrating how classic and contemporary effortlessly combine. As pictured below this is the perfect fabric to adorn an antique chaise to create the feel of a bygone era.
